Rock Containment & Guidance Systems

Using Drapery and Deflector (Attenuator) systems to contain falling rocks, and guide them safely to a catchment area, has been extensively attended in North America, Europe, and Japan. EAU has taken benefit of the knowledge and experience that has been available to its business partners (3SGeotech & TokyoRope Mfg) and has developed two categories of systems under its Hybrid ARMS line of products:

  • ARMS-HD: Drapery systems to guide rolling rocks

  • ARMS-HA: Deflector(Attenuator) Systems to contain and guide falling rocks

ARMS-HD: Drapery Systems for the protection and guidance of loose and rolling rocks on slopes and

cliffs

The systems work through the use of ropes and membranes composed of high tensile strength and low structural deformation Mesh(Wire Netting). In addition to tensile strength, the punch load resistance of Mesh plays a significant role in keeping the system durable and operating during the required system’s life.

ARMS-HA: Deflector(Attenuator) Systems, a combination of a Rockfall Keeper Head with a Drape Tail

On spots, where there is the potential of falling rocks coming from upper areas, EAU’s ARMS-HD drape System is installed with a rockfall keeper. This component allows for raising the top border of the mesh increasing the safety and efficiency of the system. The Rockfall Keeper can be composed of a CE-marked (ETAG-tested) barrier or a designed full-scale-tested CurtainNet.
